Horatio Alger Association program extended through May 1
CASPER, Wyo. – Feb. 13, 2007 – Wyoming high school seniors have the chance to be awarded a $2,500 college scholarship, thanks
to the Horatio Alger Association and Rocky Mountain Power Foundation.
Rocky Mountain Power Foundation is partnering with the Horatio Alger Association by sponsoring a total of $125,000 in scholarships
to assist Wyoming students in attaining a college education.
"Rocky Mountain Power is pleased to partner with the Horatio Alger Association to assist those students who need a little
help achieving their dream of a higher education," said Richard Walje, chairman of the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation. "We
believe a college education is instrumental to a young adult’s life, and we are proud to assist with this effort in Wyoming."
Wyoming high school seniors still have time to apply for a scholarship. The Association has extended the enrollment period
to May 1, 2007, to allow more students to apply. The Association is seeking to award 50 scholarships to Wyoming applicants.
Seniors who previously applied will automatically be considered for the new enrollment period.
Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs are distinctive because they offer assistance to students in need who have persevered despite
facing hardships in life. Potential applicants should demonstrate integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength
of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education and a desire to contribute
to society. Students can visit the Web site for more information and to apply for the scholarship at https://www.horatioalger.org/scholarships/.
