Part of keeping communities safe is pruning trees. Trees are major causes of outages and fires when they fall on or grow into
power lines. We frequently examine our service area to locate and prune potential problem trees, in order to boost our system’s
reliability and public safety.
Find out more about
how trees are pruned
and what they look like after pruning. You can also learn what types of trees to plant near overhead power lines. Finally,
we sometimes find it necessary to remove trees
that pose a serious threat to safety and service reliability.

For the third year in a row, we have received the Tree Line USA designation from the National Arbor Day Foundation and the
Association of State Foresters for our leadership in caring for trees.
