Do the bright thing Using energy wisely helps save you money now and in the future. Starting in May 2006, a separate line item was included on
your bill called “Customer Efficiency Services.” This fee is 1.5 percent of your bill. It helps fund important energy efficiency
and load management programs for residential and business customers. In the short term, these programs can help you save money
on your monthly bills. In the long term, they will keep everyone’s rates as low as possible and are positive for the environment.
Update: Effective May 1, 2008, Rocky Mountain Power received approval to increase the Customer Efficiency Services charge. This change
allows the company to expand programs and services to assist residents and businesses in reducing their energy consumption and manage their peak loads. The change will result in a price increase of 2.2 percent (except
special contracts).
Why do you offer these programs? Why should I participate?
In Idaho, the greatest demand for electricity occurs on summer afternoons, and this demand continues to grow. The average
growth in electrical demand is projected at 1 percent, however, the demand for energy during peak months is projected to be
over twice that rate at 2 percent. Power produced and purchased when demand is high is also more expensive and contributes
to driving up the cost to meet Idaho’s energy needs. So, you can do your part by participating in our energy efficiency and
demand management programs or by simply paying attention to when you use energy.
The bottom line: The power really is in your hands. Our programs are one means of helping you keep costs down and ensure safe and reliable
power for eastern Idaho for years to come. By working together, we are all making a difference in our state’s energy outlook.
