BUFFALO, Wyo. — Learning won’t have to take a summer break for boys and girls in Johnson County, thanks in part to funding
from the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, the charitable arm of Pacific Power. The Boys & Girls Club of the Big Horns was
awarded a $5,000 grant from the Foundation’s Pacific Power Fund, to help support creative learning activities at the Club’s
Summer Day Camp, which runs throughout the summer months.
Pacific Power Regional Community Manager Leslie Blythe and Pacific Power Lineman Agent Tim Sullivan presented the contribution
to the Boys & Girls Club, on Tuesday, April 12.
“This funding will help economically challenged families provide opportunities for their children to take part in fun learning
activities,” said Blythe. “It is important for children to continue to learn while they are out of school, and we are pleased
to be able to help make this happen.”
PacifiCorp Foundation funding will help provide weekly Summer Day Camp scholarships for Buffalo and Kaycee youth ages 6 to
18. These scholarships will assist the Boys & Girls Club in extending Project Learn activities beyond the school year. The
program focuses on math and reading and incorporates high-yield learning with fun activities such as hiking and fishing.
“Without help from the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, it would be difficult to have this program and to serve as many
children as we will be able to this year,” said Toni Cervenka, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club of the
Big Horns.
The PacifiCorp Foundation awarded a total of more than $20,000 to nonprofit organizations throughout Wyoming, to help support
safety, health and wellness, and educational programs for youth. The contributions are part of one of four grant cycles awarded
by the Foundation annually.
