Buy Blue Sky renewable wind power
If you believe in pollution-free power, here’s your chance to purchase new wind power through our Blue Sky program.
You can sign up on our Web site
or over the phone at 1-800-769-3717. It just takes a few minutes. For as little as $1.95 more per month than you’re paying
now, you can help:
- reduce air pollution
- influence the future of energy production
- lower our dependence on fossil fuels, so our energy supply becomes more self-sufficient
- encourage the development of new renewable energy in our region
- preserve the environment and conserve resources for future generations
Already, more than 20,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers have signed up to purchase electricity generated from clean, renewable
wind resources.
Increase the power of wind Rocky Mountain Power residents and businesses can purchase new wind power through our Blue Sky program. With Blue Sky, customers
purchase renewable wind energy in 100 kilowatt-hour (kwh) increments, called blocks, for just $1.95 per block per month. Each
100 kwh block represents about 10 percent of the average customer’s monthly electricity usage.
Since Blue Sky is sold in increments, you can upgrade some or all of the electricity you use each month — the balance of the
power you use would come from traditional generation sources.
The Blue Sky charge will be included on your monthly bill, in addition to your regular charges. Your payments will go directly
toward the purchase of wind power from newly developed wind farms, operating within the western U.S. power system.
Neither you nor your electric equipment will notice any difference in power reliability or quality. All Blue Sky blocks purchased
will be generated and delivered to the western U.S. power system within two years of purchase.

How do I know I’m getting what I pay for?
Blue Sky is regulated by the state utility commissions, which requires us to provide a detailed accounting of consumer renewable
power purchases and our correlating renewable purchases on their behalf. Blue Sky also meets high quality environmental standards.
While the electricity our customers use doesn’t flow from a specific facility directly to residents’ homes, each customer’s
renewable electricity purchase is matched annually with electricity generated from wind sources and delivered to the western
power system.
Other information on renewable energy generation
Separate from Blue Sky, we also offer customers a net metering
option. This is for customers interested in generating all or a portion of their electricity needs from small-scale solar,
wind or other renewable generating equipment. A net meter measures the difference between the electricity a customers buys
from a utility and the electricity they produce themselves. We also offer more information on photovoltaics
(solar energy).

Power's commitment to renewable energy
As a company, we also generate and purchase renewable power for all our customers as part of our resource mix. Today, we generate
or purchase power from five renewable energy facilities in Wyoming, Oregon, Idaho and Utah. Learn more about Rocky MountainPower's environmental commitment

Our future plans include adding even more renewable energy to the power system. Our Integrated Resource Plan
calls for adding 2,000 megawatts of renewable energy to the power system in the next 10 years. This is enough energy to power
409,000 homes.
